Can You Pull The Trigger?

Many people get stuck getting ready. They have the vision, the gifts, and the plan, but they never get the job done. They are always going to start a business, write a book, or do what God called them to do. At some point, you have to stop talking about your potential and put it to work.

I was reading about General McClellan. He could organize troops, develop strategies, and inspire people, but he hesitated to act. Lincoln eventually turned to Ulysses S. Grant, a man willing to move forward and fight. McClellan’s preparation couldn’t make up for his unwillingness to execute. What good is all that preparation if you never pull the trigger?

Preparation is necessary, but it should lead somewhere. Sometimes people keep planning because they are afraid to move. They call it wisdom, but they already know the next step and won’t take it. Be honest with yourself. Do you need more information, or do you need to act on what you already know?

Ecclesiastes 11:4 teaches that if you keep waiting on perfect conditions, you will never sow or reap. Everything will not be lined up exactly how you want it. Follow God’s direction, use wisdom, and make adjustments as you go.

Your purpose needs a place in your schedule. Write the chapter, make the call, submit the proposal, or launch the business. Then stay with it when the excitement wears off. Starting is good, but the assignment requires follow-through.

Don’t die with the potential to pull the trigger. Live pursuing your purpose and getting the job done. God has placed something in you that can help people. Take responsibility for it and put it to work.

How much longer will you put your purpose on hold? Get my book, Go Ready Set, and make today the day you take action. Read it, apply what you learn, and get moving on your assignment. Order your copy today on Amazon: https://a.co/d/031I0iUF.
