5 Steps to Walking by Faith

1. Be Intentional About What You Hear
“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.” — Proverbs 4:20 (NLT)
Faith doesn’t come by accident — it comes by hearing the Word of God on purpose. Surround yourself with faith-filled, anointed teaching. Whether through sermons, podcasts, books, or videos, make it a priority to attend to the truth, focus on what’s being said, and meditate on it daily. Faith is built by what you consistently hear.
2. Stop Walking by Sight
“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” — Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened…” — Ephesians 1:18
Faith requires spiritual vision. Don’t let what you see in the natural determine what you believe. Circumstances can lie, but the Word is truth. Speak what God says, not what you see. Let your spiritual eyes see the outcome God promised, and walk in it.
3. Reject the Voice of Fear and Doubt
“Have faith in God.” — Mark 11:22“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” — John 8:32
Be careful who you listen to. Just because a message is emotional or relatable doesn’t mean it’s biblical. Don’t allow fear-based preaching to shape your faith. Choose voices that preach victory, faith, dominion, and overcoming. Fear may comfort the flesh, but faith sets the spirit free.
4. Meditate, Speak, and Live the Word Daily
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” — Psalm 1:2
Make the Word your daily bread. Speak it. Think on it. Let it reshape your inner world. Study stories of faith — Joseph, David, Esther, Paul, Peter, Joshua, and of course, Jesus. The Word transforms you when it gets in your mouth, your heart, and your habits.
5. Walk with People Who Live by Faith
“Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’” — 1 Corinthians 15:33 (NIV)
The people around you can either push your faith forward or pull it backward. Don’t hang around those who comfort your doubt or enable fear. Surround yourself with believers who challenge you, correct you in love, and stir your faith. You need accountability, boldness, and encouragement to keep walking by faith — not by fear.
Remember, faith is not a feeling — it’s a decision to believe God, act on His Word, and trust Him no matter what.
